The media could not be loaded.The TopRig Camera Slider is a small, but multifunction, device allowing the user to add various effects to videos as you shoot them. The slider is belt driven, powered by any of the NP-F 500 series batteries (widely available) and allows for connection for cameras/holders having the standard 1/4″ as well as the larger 3/8″ female connectors. This connection is determiined by an ingenuous screw that has a depressable 3/8″ shell around an internal 1/4″ screw. The slider is controlled by either the built in control panel or the companion app available for either iOS or Android devices. The Camera Slider can be mounted on top of a tripod or similar device using either 1/4″ or 3/8″ threads.For my purposes, the most useful operations of the TopRig Camera Slider were the stationary object tracking where the camera moves across the slide focused on a certain area and the panoramic mode where the camera changes it focal point to take a programed panorama. The speed of movement on both of these is variable as is the length of movement. The device is also capable of programmable time lapse photography though this requires the purchase of an additional camera shutter cable.All in all the TopRig camera slider is a fairly utile device that will add to the types of video shots that the amateur videographer can accomplish. I said “amateur” because of the very short length of travel provided by this slider – more accomplished videographers will no doubt use longer and more sophisticated devices which will, of course, have far larger price tags. Having said that, however, for the amateur such as myself I think this is a 4 star product with the only negative being the aforementioned built-in limit to the length of travel. For those in the market for devices such as these I think that the TopRig camera slider is definitely worth consideration. Enough above average that it exceeds my expectations of how the product would and should perform.
