First off, I had less than a 1 week notice before my next deployment.I am a first responder and work in emergency medical services therefore regions (environments) I work in are frequently changing. In this case, I took up a volunteer position to serve in Puerto Rico, high humidity and temperatures exceeding upper 80s meant traveling LIGHT especially through the rural/mountainous areas. I didn’t have a big budget, most costs were for my own account. (I was praying and hoping that when my sleeping bag DID arrive that it wasn’t going to be junk. )My personal review is based on my experiences during one of my deployments.I purchased this sleeping bag on May 10, 2018.Pros:Lightweight and Compact – See photos.I received my item in less than 48hrs after placing my order.Excellent Customer service.Friendly follow up emails received, including tips on maintenance from the CEO, Joshua.I am 5ft6 and stocky like a bulldog. I was comfortable and didn’t feel suffocated.A big selling point for me is that this is a small brand and business. The $ price was fair and the quality, size and weight of the sleeping bag met my expectations. If you look at my sleep system in the photos. (I had this sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, microfiber towel and sleeping pad all together)On hot evenings I was able to switch between the liner and the Active Era sleeping bag.The sleeping bag provided enough “cushion” between my sleeping pad and the cot.The zipper was quiet enough not to disturb our snoring sleeping quarters. I was able to be stealth like ninja during the night ;)FYI Sleeping bag is water resistant NOT waterproof: My sleep system was encased inside a backpack that had a waterproof cover. – Nothing duct tape and contractors bags can’t cure HA!I treated my gear including this sleeping bag with Permethrin as a deterrent for the bugs (flying and otherwise) two days before travel. The sleeping bag did not smell nor stain after the application had dried.Cons:None at this time.Last comment. I haven’t washed the sleeping bag yet (I used a sleep liner) and aired it out on sweaty nights.Other:Other volunteers and first responders commented on my kit and were amazed for the SIZE and PRICE as to how affordable and practical these sleeping bags are.I recommend these sleeping bags for hot weather, WITH a sleep liner it can add additional warmth on colder nights. Great for hiking and trips that require miles and miles of walking with your kit. Cheap enough, that if it breaks, gets lost or even stolen that it isn’t the end of the world! As a first responder I am always trying out new gear in the field. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t NO BS.Thanks Active Era, you made the grade and added to a comfortable rest after a long days out in the field
