The NBDDIGITAL S100 is an entry-level camera best for casual travel photos or beginner vlogging. It seems to be a legacy product, not shown on the Manufactuerer’s official website, as of this date in late December 2024.You wouldn’t consider this camera, the NBDigital (No Big Deal Digital, lol) to be “compact” compared to phones or other, modern, purpose built cameras. It’s built to emulate the full-frame camera experience, (which I think is great for budding photographers) and it is also pink, so a person going around with this setup is going to get some attention for it.I’m a photographer, myself, with a couple of full-frame rigs and a variety of enormous lenses. The thing about having a “real camera with changable lenses” around your neck and in your hands when you go places rather than “just a phone” is that people see you as a “Real” Photographer. This might not seem important but the “are you a photographer?” question will come up to someone going around with a camera like this, and it helps a budding photographer break out of that weird self-deprecating headspace where we are afraid to call ourselves “photographers.” It’s like we are waiting for someone else to call us a photographer, like to give us permission to identify as one.But that is not the way. If you take photos to share with others then you are a photographer. No need to qualify it. You’re not a pro? So what? Why is everything about money? We are artists in our Souls so we are Real Artists. Real Photographers.Of course this kit is more angled toward “content creation” rather than Fine Arts, but it does the job fine, either way. It’s all about expressing ourselves and this camea is an excellent step in that direction. If you only look at the “specs” then this camera doesn’t seem that impressive. Being honest: most of the phones we carry around in our pockets or purses practically 24/7 have superior cameras than this, these days. With a 13MP CMOS sensor and digital zoom, it’s comparable to an iPhone 6 or 7. Like most cameras it works best in brighter but not harsh lighting and makes muddier images in lower light ?.Digital stabilization means your photos and video will be given a measure grace if your hands have a minor tremor ?, if you’re doing a lot of hiking around making you breathe hard, if you’re excited because you spotted a pod of whales, or whatever slightly shakey experience you have when you’re out there gathering content. You can use a tripod with this camera if you like, because of course it has the universal tripod screw hole. The included wide-angle and macro lenses are fun ? and functional. The camera is not compatible with other brand camera lenses or adapters, and it’s not clear from the manufacturer’s website whether additional lenses are available at all.The camera is generally easy to use. I like that I can record-while-charging. That might be handy for longer videos that could otherwise drain the battery fast. You don’t want to be in the middle of an interview with a subject and miss the authentic moments that only come through on the first “take.”(The battery? is listed in the product description as 1gram. That can’t be right, can it?)This camera can be the perfect ? gift for budding content creators or those who should have a camera but should not have the ability to wirelessly impulsively share their photos willy-nillly.Note: it does NOT support live streaming as a webcam. All in all: great as a beginner camera, but don’t expect pro-level results.
